I was over on Darkside Rainbow a few minutes ago, to check out the latest LJ news there, and found this link to a thread from last night's lj_biz post. I couldn't believe what I read.

Original Darkside Rainbow post here.

I had told myself I wasn't going to comment on this anymore. I was still - - well, no, *more* disgusted by LJ after I read last night's comments. Yes, they have the right to do whatever they want, they own the place, it's not a question of freedom of speech. What disgusts me is their newest clarifications, which I understand to be: that they can ban anyone, anytime, for anything they find objectionable, whether it's f-locked, private, whatever. Even if it's linked to, and not actually posted on LJ. And if you have a paid or permanent account and you get banned you're fucked, no refund. Also, no warning to remove the objectionable material(as they said before they would do), you're just *banned*. And today I find out that they're reporting people they ban to the NCMEC.

I'm going to end up on other journaling sites, as some of my comms will inevitably be going there. This is a fucking nightmare.

I only read the entry and a few of the comments and I'm developing a headache already. I think I'll look into some of the other journal sites just in case. I've got too many interests that on LJ's "nice list" and I'm not ashamed of them.

I know, me too. I *hate* the idea of following so many different journals, but it looks like the writers I like are being pushed away from LJ. And since you can apparently be banned for just about anything they don't like... it's hard to feel safe.

Is anyone home at your house in the daytime to receive a FedEx? I need to send you something you'll LOVE!

Well, *now* my curiosity is piqued! Yeah, I'm usually here.

Okay, this has gotten ugly now. I was tossing up whether to stay with lj or leave, I have decided to stay for now but I am sad to see all my favourite writers and friends scattering into other journal sites. :-(

I'm sad about everyone scattering, too. I've been very happy here, all my friends were here. I'll still be here, at least for the immediate future, but I've also set up Insanejournal, Greatestjournal and Journalfen accounts. IJ seems to be the main gathering place for LJ refugees. If you end up on any of them, I'm the same username on all three.
