I hope this isn't a joke. According to IMDb, Tommy Lee Jones will be playing Dave Robicheaux in the movie version of James Lee Burke's In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead. How cool is that? I was disappointed with Heaven's Prisoners.
Now if they would make versions of the Andrew Vacchs Burke novels, Dennis Lehane's Patrick Kenzie novels, and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels with Chris Meloni as Burke, Kenzie and Morelli.
Is everyone watching the second season of Life on Mars? You should be. As much as the first season rocked, this one is just as good.
Gene Hunt owned the second ep - - my favorite so far this season. Philip Glenister was so good in that one. And number 4 is excellent, too. Gene Hunt at a swingers party - - LOL! But, *sob* - - only 4 more eps.
I finally, after like a hundred years, saw The Hotel New Hampshire. I love John Irving's books. And I loved the movie version of The World According to Garp. Cider House Rules, too, but they changed so much. Excellent cast, though. I'd heard bad things about the HNH movie, and yeah, it's true, I guess, but it's been so long since I read the books, the inconsistencies didn't bother me so much. And my boy Seth Green was Egg!
Coincidentally, I happened to catch a few minutes of It on ABC family tonight, where Seth played a young Richie. I loved the book, and loved the casting of the kids, but every last one of the grownups annoyed me. BTW, that book is the reason I got rid of my clown collection.
I watched Fried Green Tomatoes the other day, for the first time in years, and ended up over at the IMDb boards. Yes, I know, I should know better by now. Anyway, people were arguing about the lesbian thing, people who had only seen the movie saying Ruth and Idgie weren't lovers. Even if I hadn't read the book, I would've still known that - - how can people be so dense? It's a really sweet love story. And it was definitely toned down for the movie, and that annoyed me almost as much as the total excision of the Celie/Shug relationship in The Color Purple.
I loved Jessica Tandy in that movie, because Ninny reminds me so much of my aunt Dollie - - she was just like that.
I'm sure there was more - - I'm so far behind!
