Swamp Thing S1E2 "Worlds Apart"
Nice to see Kevin Durand on tv again. I like his quirky character so far.
Today's good thing: I got to do super fun stuff like getting a birth certificate and renewing my driver's license. It wasn't all bad. I did get to see Phillis*** at the health department and it only took a few minutes to renew my license. Then I came home and did more fun stuff like dishes and laundry, and there might have been a nap.
*** I couldn't post this on Facebook. I don't know that I've mentioned her here before. She and I were very close once. I was her DUFF for about 2 or 3 years in the late 90s. We really did have some good times. We worked together, and she literally lived right across the creek from me. We both enjoyed shopping. She helped me prepare for our wedding and was my maid of honor. I threw her a baby shower when she was pregnant with Cheyenne. I helped her move after her divorce and helped her decorate her new place. We grew apart after J and I married, and she changed jobs. She eventually remarried and later he died. She remarried again a couple of years ago.
She still seems a little jealous of J - - she mentioned it today. She wants us to plan on getting together in August - - Chey is having a baby in July and she's having a difficult pregnancy. I'm just not sure if I want to do this again. Maybe it would be better since she's married and she'll be a grandmother by then. She used to be very high maintenance and very time consuming. I like to stay home and definitely don't enjoy shopping like I used to.
I realize this makes me sound pretty bad and more than a little shallow. Retail is a soul and energy sucking job, and I just don't want to be around people when I'm not at work, and I very nearly have a phobia about talking on the phone.
You all know I used to be anti audiobook, but having already listened my way through all of Anne Tyler and most of Stephen King's short story collections, its safe to say I've changed my mind.
It is weird though, how I can enjoy someone's singing voice, but not at all enjoy their reading. Take, for instance, "You Know They've Got a Hell of a Band." Grace Slick read it and I didn't enjoy it at all, not her voice or the way she reads. But then, I was entranced by Jerry Garcia reading "My Pretty Pony." Very nice. And who knew David Cronenberg had such a nice reading voice("Sneakers")?
