American accent quiz, most recently from dustandroses

I am fairly sure this is inaccurate. I *do* definitely have a southern accent, as desert_rifka and mrs_sweetpeach can attest. It is true that I do pronounce most things "right" as opposed ot the southern way. Like "Mary". Or Gary or Karen. My family and friends pronounce it with long a long a - - May-ree, Gay-ree, Kay-ren, and man does that annoy me.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The Inland North
The South
The Northeast
Philadelphia
The West
Boston
North Central

I got the same results you did. I imagine you with quite the genteel Southern accent, Maddie. And believe me, nobody sounds like a worse redneck hick than I do, lol.

Aww, aren't you sweet? Genteel, though... don't know about that.

Nevermind! Mine gave me a BOSTON accent! LOL! It did the same for one of my friends from Great Britain. I think it gives Boston to any non-American who takes the quiz!

I SO do not have a Boston accent. Heh heh!

I'd love to hear your Southern accent. *g*

I was thinking about you when I got to 'about' on the quiz. :-)

And annoyed that there wasn't a third choice for those of us near the border who occassionally, but not always, pronounce about "aboot."

As I keep telling people, I have never, nor will I EVER, in my entire life pronounced "about" as "aboot". =>}

Boots go on your feet. I go out and about just as I speak LOUDLY. *G*

I've never heard you talk, but I can't imagine you with a Boston accent.

If I ever get up the nerve to do a voice post, maybe.
7th-Nov-2006 09:21 pm (UTC)
That would be cool. I don't even know how to do one.

We could phone each other. =>}

And no, I do NOT speak with a Boston accent. Sheesh! =>}
9th-Nov-2006 12:08 am (UTC)
I *think* I know how, but getting upthe nerve to do one...

And yeah, we could phone each other!
9th-Nov-2006 04:01 am (UTC)
Do you need a cell phone to make a voice post?

We really SHOULD talk on the phone one of these days. It would be very cool to hear your accent. =>}
9th-Nov-2006 04:07 am (UTC)
I don't think you need a cell phone. I was asking shinylife - - the only person I know who's doen a voice post - - and she said you just call a certain number and follow the prompts.

I'm ready whenever you are! Just remember, I definitely *do* have a southern accent.

I guess you must have to pay long distance charges to make a voice post then?

And about the southern accent? I'm counting on it. LOL. =>}

There are different numbers for different places. Let me find the link. Here's the page about it, with a link for the different numbers:

I shall check that out.

Don't know what I'd say though, if I ever did a voice post. LOL.

Yes, I'll say you have a southern accent. And a charming one at that.
7th-Nov-2006 09:00 pm (UTC)
Aww, aren't you sweet!
4th-Nov-2006 02:12 am (UTC)
"Kay-ren"? Really? That's very strange. I've never heard anyone pronounce my name like that.

Guess I'll go take the quiz and see where it pegs me (native Californian; lived in greater Los Angeles since before I started school).
7th-Nov-2006 08:56 pm (UTC)
Yeah, Kay-ren. It drives me crazy.
5th-Nov-2006 03:39 am (UTC)
Accents... everybody at office makes fun of mine, I never realized I'd one! The good thing is that there are four other woman from my state working with me, so at least when we're together we can use the "right" pronouce of words without being bothered, lol
(btw I think you should go there now. Just sayin', *g*)
