Hello Fresh

So, J and I tried a trial shipment of Hello Fresh, three meals.

Our choices were:

(Monday) Cherry Drizzled Pork Chops with Couscous Tomato salad. The pork chops were okay. Very thick, and needed more time cooking than the recipe recommended. J didn't care for the dried cherries in the sauce. We both liked the couscous tomato salad, but J didn't care for the green onion and lemon in the salad.

(Tuesday) Crispy-Top Parmesan Chicken with Balsamic Potato Salad and Garlic-Roasted Tomatoes. This was my favorite entree. J's second favorite. The chicken was perfectly moist and the topping was crunchy and yummy. The potatoes were good(with a thumbs down to the Balsamic vinegar and once again, onions, from J). I liked the tomatoes, but there was too much garlic. They got a thumbs down from J.

(Wednesday) Crispy Baked Cod with Buttered Potatoes, Green Beans, and Corn on the Cob. My second favorite entree. J's favorite entree and sides. The potatoes, green beans and corn were all good. I did leave out the lemon juice and green onion in the potatoes, for J.

Bottom line: we might do this again.Usually when I'm working, I don't cook, and we end up with takeout. If we order this again, it will cost about $60 for three meals, which is what we would normally spend on three takeout meals. There is less of the Hello Fresh meals(no leftovers, for us), but they are healthier than what we'd normally eat.

I'm about to try Blue Apron. Friend gave me two Hello Fresh meals to try, she was going out of town. They were good. The best was a BBQ pork meatloaf...divine. It's hard though because I will have to make mine as meal plus next day lunch and some things don't translate well to microwave at work.

Let me know how Blue Apron is. BBQ pork meatloaf sounds wonderful.
